Real Madrid have completed the signing of Ricardo Carvalho from Chelsea after the defender passed a medical, the Spanish club have announced. The defender will be reunited with José Mourinho, who brought the Portugal international to Stamford Bridge in 2004, where he won three league titles in six seasons.

“I want to help Madrid and win titles,” Carvalho told Spanish sports daily Marca. “This step in my career is very important for me.”

The 32-year-old also revealed that he cannot wait to work with his compatriot again. “Wherever Mourinho goes, he wins,” he said. “He is a great coach, as he has demonstrated in the past. The players have full confidence in him.”

• Rio club says it has signed Chelsea player on two-year deal
• Portugal midfielder to be formally introduced on Monday

Rio de Janeiro’s Fluminense said it has signed Chelsea midfielder Deco to a two-year contract.

The club said on its website that the 32-year-old Deco will be formally introduced on Monday.

Brazilian-born Deco played for Portugal at the World Cup in South Africa. Before joining Chelsea he played for Brazil’s Corinthians and Portugal’s Benfica, Alverca, Salgueiro and Porto. He also played for Barcelona.

During his 14-year career so far, Deco has played 594 games and scored 108 times.

• Former Chelsea right-back expected to sign two-year contract
• Brazilian club reportedly targeting ex-Chelsea midfielder Deco

The former Chelsea right-back Juliano Belletti has agreed to join Fluminense and is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Brazilian club after undergoing medical tests later this week.

The 34-year-old defender has been without a club since being released by the English champions in June.

He previously played for Barcelona, for whom he scored the winning goal in the 2006 Champions League final, against Arsenal. Belletti has been capped 25 times by Brazil and was a member of the squad that won the 2002 World Cup.

Fluminense were also reported to be close to a deal to sign the Portugal midfielder Deco, who has also been released by Chelsea.
