Turkey coach Guus Hiddink drops hint that Chelsea return is imminent

• Guus Hiddink says ‘club role is more preferable’
• Turkey coach may open talks next week

Guus Hiddink has offered the clearest hint yet that he favours a return to Chelsea, with whom he won the FA Cup in 2009.

The Turkey coach, who has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge since Carlo Ancelotti was sacked on the final day of the Premier League season last month, said: “I never told anybody that I was going to continue working with Turkey.

“I feel energetic and I like working every day. I feel I need to do more, so a club role is more preferable than coaching a national team. I haven’t told the president of the Turkish FA. But he is an intelligent man and I’m sure he follows the world’s media. There is no official offer yet, so I cannot guarantee anything.”

“I feel I need to do more. I’ve trained Australia and PSV at the same time, as well as Russia and Chelsea, and I was very happy. We’ll see what happens with Turkey.”

It has been reported that the 64-year-old Dutchman will open formal talks with the owner of Chelsea, Roman Abramovich, after Turkey’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Belgium on Friday.

‘Beautiful’ time in London convinces Carlo Ancelotti to stay in England

• Former Chelsea manager says he ‘wants to remain here’
• Ancelotti happy to have a break from coaching

The former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, sacked last weekend at the conclusion of his second season in charge at Stamford Bridge, says he would like to find another coaching job in England.

Ancelotti has been linked with the coaching position of newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers, while he has also been a reported target of the Italian club Roma.

When asked about the Serie A side, the former AC Milan boss told Italy’s Sky Sports 24: “I have not had contact with the club, I still have to resolve my contract with Chelsea.

“My intention is to remain in England. I have spent two beautiful years here, I have felt really well and I want to remain here. I am in no hurry to find an immediate solution.

“Since 1995 up to now, I’ve only had a minor break, because I’ve always coached, and hence, this would be an opportunity to update myself, see new things, and face new challenges with a different experience. For example, I will soon go to St Petersburg to see [his compatriot and Zenit coach, Luciano] Spalletti.”

Ancelotti led Chelsea to the double in his first season at Stamford Bridge, but was dismissed after they could only finish second his second term, while losing to Manchester United in the Champions League quarter-finals. He won the competition twice with Milan.
