• Midfielder wants to return to Brazil to be near his children
• Hopes to leave after playing for Portugal in World Cup
Deco has told Chelsea he wants to leave the club at the end of the season. “I want to go back to Brazil, the midfielder told The Sun today. “I still have a couple of good years of high-level football in me but I want to be near my kids.”
The 32-year-old has a year left on his Chelsea deal but wants Carlo Ancelotti to let him leave.
“Ideally I’d like to go after the World Cup and I’ve been talking to Chelsea about it. It will all depend on Chelsea – if the club release me or let me go on loan. I’m not going to rush to choose a new club but it’s time to get back.”
Flamengo are among the teams to have expressed an interest in the Brazil-born ace, who plans to quit international football after representing Portugal at this summer’s World Cup.
